MOROCCO

Moroccan Leadership Institute.

The Moroccan Leadership Institute is one of several national leadership institutes which have been founded by students of the International Institute for Global Leadership
(www.global-leadership.com).  The purpose of these institutes is to use the IIGL studies to specifically develop leadership at the local and national level with an emphasis on the specific concerns and issues of each region.

We envision expanding our work beyond just recruiting new students to offering opportunities for students to come together to discuss the ideas they have learned  and how we might work together to have an even greater impact of the future of leadership in Morocco at all levels of society.  We are planting seeds for a positive future with better educated, highly conscious leaders with high integrity and commitment to service and the highest good.  Here is a sampling of our current students:

Nadia Echchikhi
(National Coordinator)

With over a decade of experience in leadership, coordination, and stakeholder engagement, I have developed a strong commitment to transparency, fairness, and inclusive governance. My professional journey has been shaped by close collaboration with public institutions, civil society actors, and international partners, strengthening my ability to navigate complex decision-making environments and advocate for equitable processes.

Currently serving in a managerial capacity, I continue to refine my leadership skills with a focus on ethical decision-making, accountability, and people-centered approaches. This opportunity represents an important step in further enhancing my leadership competencies and contributing meaningfully to global and community-focused initiatives.

My multilingual fluency enables effective communication across diverse cultural and professional contexts, fostering dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding. I bring a meticulous approach to coordination and data-informed planning, coupled with a deep respect for human dignity and the complexities faced by diverse communities.

Imane Echchikhi

With a strong background in migration, refugee affairs, and social protection, I am deeply committed to humanitarian work and policy development. I hold a Master’s degree in Migration and Refugee Affairs from the Instituto Séneca and have pursued various specialized certifications to enhance my expertise in these fields. My academic and professional journey is driven by the goal of advocating for vulnerable communities, influencing policy decisions, and fostering sustainable social support systems.

Currently, I serve as a Migration Advisor at GIZ in Oujda, where I provide crucial support to migrants, refugees, and displaced persons. My role involves guiding individuals through legal, social, and economic challenges while working on capacity-building initiatives, policy recommendations, and sustainable integration strategies. In addition to my professional work, I hold the position of President of an Association in Oujda, where I lead community-driven projects, support social initiatives, and advocate for marginalized populations.

My dedication to social impact extends beyond my primary role. I actively contribute to organizations that address LGBTQ+ rights, missing persons at sea, and discrimination issues. I am involved in training members of Alarmophone, compiling quarterly and general reports, and organizing commemoration activities to raise awareness about migration challenges. These responsibilities have allowed me to develop strong leadership, advocacy, and research skills while working with diverse stakeholders.

In addition to my expertise in migration, I am also passionate about psychology, particularly in the field of motivation. I am currently enrolled in a unique bachelor’s program in psychology in Oujda, which is among the first public psychology programs offered in French in Morocco. To bridge academic knowledge with real-world applications, I plan to launch an Instagram page focused on motivation psychology, sharing insights that can help individuals improve their personal and professional lives.

As a lifelong learner, I have pursued certifications in Social Protection and Care Economy in Africa from the United Nations Institute for Economic Development and Planning (UN-IDEP) and in Capacity Works with GIZ. These certifications have strengthened my ability to analyze and implement social protection systems, develop capacity-building frameworks, and contribute to sustainable policy initiatives.

Academic and Professional Goals
My academic and professional objectives are closely aligned with my long-term vision. I aspire to pursue a PhD in migration, focusing on policy solutions, social integration strategies, and human rights. My goal is to contribute to academic research while developing practical solutions for migration governance and protection systems.

Additionally, I aim to expand my language proficiency, reaching B2 level in German, C1 in English, and B2 in Spanish, while refining my French communication skills. Language fluency is a crucial asset in my field, as it enables me to engage with international organizations, conduct research, and collaborate with global stakeholders.

In the future, I seek to establish myself in Spain, securing a position where I can utilize my expertise in migration and policy-making. I am committed to building sustainable programs that support migrants, refugees, and vulnerable communities, ensuring their rights, integration, and well-being. Through my leadership, academic dedication, and professional experience, I aim to make a meaningful impact in migration policies and social justice initiatives at both national and international levels.

Talha Meryem

I work in the field of data management within an international and multicultural environment, where precision, structure, and the ethical use of data are central to everything I do. My background includes a PhD in Computer Science, but beyond the technical side, what has truly shaped me is a deep commitment to using data responsibly to inform decisions and support humanitarian goals.

Over time, I’ve developed strong analytical and organizational skills, but what matters most to me is the global perspective I’ve gained one that values diversity, empathy, and continuous learning. Working with people from different cultures has taught me that collaboration and respect are the foundation of meaningful progress.

Education has always been a personal passion and a source of purpose in my life. I see it not only as a path to individual empowerment, but as a tool for collective transformation. My studies in computer science allowed me to explore how technology and data can address real-world challenges. Yet, I’ve always believed that true impact requires more than technical knowledge, it requires emotional intelligence, communication, and leadership grounded in human connection.

In my daily work, I often serve as a link between systems and people, translating data into insights, and insights into action. This experience has shown me that leadership is not about hierarchy; it’s about listening, guiding, and inspiring others toward a common vision. I’m particularly drawn to inclusive and compassionate leadership that builds trust and encourages participation from everyone.

Outside of work, I am an avid language learner and a strong believer in the power of human connection. I speak multiple languages and enjoy making friends from all over the world. These connections have enriched my worldview and taught me the importance of humility, curiosity, and open-mindedness. I see cultural diversity not as a challenge, but as a strength that can lead to more creative and resilient solutions.

I’m applying to the International Institute for Global Leadership because I want to strengthen my ability to lead with purpose and empathy. I’m eager to learn from others who share a commitment to ethical leadership and global citizenship. I see this program as an opportunity to refine my leadership style, broaden my impact, and align what I do with the kind of world I want to help create.

My long-term goal is to contribute to initiatives that promote digital inclusion, equitable access to education, and data-driven decision-making in communities that need it most. I want to be part of a generation of leaders who combine knowledge with kindness, and innovation with humanity. In short, I’m ready to listen, share, and grow alongside others who believe in creating positive change together.

I would like to participate in this global leadership program to expand my perspective, strengthen my leadership skills, and connect with change makers from diverse backgrounds. As a Data Management Focal point, I see the power of data in shaping decisions, and I want to learn how to use it more effectively to drive inclusive and sustainable change.

Inas Ouafi

I am a Moroccan scholar and practitioner deeply committed to contributing to a more just, inclusive, and peaceful world through leadership grounded in empathy, accountability, and a commitment to human dignity. My academic and professional journey has been guided by a profound interest in international relations, humanitarian action, and the transformative power of education and leadership in addressing complex global challenges.

Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in Contemporary International Relations at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fès, where I am focusing on multilateral cooperation and its role in addressing forced displacement and global inequalities. This research reflects my conviction that solutions to the pressing issues facing our world require strong, collaborative approaches that bridge policy and field realities. Prior to this, I completed a Master’s degree in International Administration and Partnership Management at Mohammed V University in Rabat, a program that strengthened my understanding of institutional frameworks, partnership building, and the importance of strategic, inclusive management in development and humanitarian settings.

My academic background is complemented by practical field experience, notably with UNHCR Morocco, where I worked in refugee case management, supporting individuals through registration processes, community coordination, and reintegration efforts. This experience exposed me directly to the resilience of displaced individuals and the systemic barriers they face. It reinforced my commitment to working in spaces where policy meets lived experience, advocating for solutions that respect human rights while ensuring practical, sustainable support for those in need.

Being trilingual in Arabic, French, and English has allowed me to navigate diverse cultural and institutional environments with sensitivity and adaptability. I have been involved in organizing scientific events and contributing to the life of my research laboratory, where I have honed my skills in coordination, public speaking, and collaborative work. Additionally, I have pursued certifications related to international law, humanitarian principles, and sustainable development, reflecting my commitment to continuous learning and my readiness to apply these frameworks to real-world contexts.

What drives me deeply is the belief that leadership is not only about positions but about the ability to inspire, to build trust, and to contribute to collective efforts that improve lives. Throughout my journey, I have been guided by a commitment to empathy and integrity, recognizing that effective leadership requires listening, humility, and a willingness to adapt. My long-term goal is to contribute to international organizations or policy research centers working on displacement, youth empowerment, and climate resilience, bringing together evidence-based research and field experience to shape impactful, human-centered policies.

Participating in the Global Leadership program would be a transformative opportunity for me to refine my leadership skills, learn from a diverse community of aspiring changemakers, and gain practical tools to enhance my contribution to my community and the world. I believe that addressing global challenges requires young leaders who are not only knowledgeable but also committed to ethical action, inclusive dialogue, and sustainable solutions. Through this program, I hope to deepen my capacity to engage effectively in diverse teams, navigate complex global issues with cultural sensitivity, and co-create innovative initiatives that align with the Sustainable Development Goals and the values of justice and dignity.

Outside of my academic and professional work, I am passionate about reading, exploring new perspectives, and engaging in discussions that challenge assumptions and expand understanding. I value building meaningful connections with people from different backgrounds and believe strongly in the power of dialogue in fostering mutual respect and collaboration.

In summary, I see myself as a dedicated, empathetic, and curious young leader, eager to contribute to a world that prioritizes human dignity, sustainability, and peace. The Global Leadership program aligns perfectly with my aspirations to grow as a leader and to actively participate in shaping solutions that address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
